In our daily lives, there is a phrase, which we don’t realize, we often say when facing an impossible situation. Without realizing it too, it is actually a question that challenges God’s sovereignty. What is the word?
“Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall (Could it be) a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?” (Genesis 17:17).
The phrase is “Could it be?”, which is the same thing as “Is it possible?” This phrase came out of Abraham’s heart when he was faced with the situation that it was impossible for him to have a child.
Because of that question too, for the umpteenth time, God came to Abraham and repeated His promise concerning of his offspring,
“As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee” (Genesis 17:4-6).
And also,
“And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her” (Genesis 17:15-16).
How did Abraham respond to what God was saying? He bowed and laughed and said to himself, “Is it possible?”
Not only Abraham, but Sarah also gave the same response. By the time she heard the Lord said to her husband that she would give birth, this was her response:
“Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” (Genesis 18:12).
The question “Is it possible?” is often a favorite question that arises in the mind of the believers when they heard the Word of God, in prayer time, when faced with various situations and conditions of their life.
“Is it possible I have a child?”
“Is it possible for my husband/wife to change?”
“Is it possible for my children/my parents to change?”
“Is it possible I recover?”
“Is it possible I succeed?”
“Is it possible my needs be met?”
“Is it possible for this problem be solved?”
“Is it possible … .. !!!????”
Today, the Lord gives the answer to the question “Is it possible?”
“And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son” (Genesis 18:13-14).
Perhaps during this time many of us have a lot of questions “is it possible?” in our lives. Today God answers us with a question again, “Is there anything that is impossible for the Lord?”
Please answer God’s question correctly. When we answer His question then our question will be answered soon.
“Is it possible I have a child?”
“Is there anything that is impossible for God?”
“Is it possible I’ll be cured?”
“Is there anything that is impossible for God?”
You may ask, “How can these things be?”
“And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him” (Genesis 21:1-2).
God will watch over us as He says!
God will do to us as He promises!
Then all will happen at the time that He has set!
In accordance with the Word of God to us!
“Is it possible?”
“Nothing is impossible for God!”
“Nothing is impossible for believers!”
