“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37). Christ’s love makes us more than conquerors. It’s only natural, as believers who are loved by God, our lives are full of victories. We continue to walk from victory to victory. This is the love that makes us more than conquerors:
1. Love that doesn’t fight against us but takes side with us.
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (v. 31).
Sin made us to be God’s opponent. We are supposed to be His adversaries, but the love of Christ reconciled us to God so that God no longer be our adversary, but instead takes side with us and be an advocate for us. If God is for us, who can be against us?
If the President is on our side, people will think a thousand times to be our adversaries. Likewise, if God is on our side, no one wants to fight against us. All devil would think twice to be our adversaries, because now God is on our side. The devil used to continue to enthrall and persecute our lives, because we were in sin and God was not on our side.
But after we believed in Jesus and be born again, now God is on our side and the devil will not dare to fight us, because if we fight, he will be dealing with God himself. Even if the devil is against us, we will still win because God is on our side.
2. Love that doesn’t take but gives everything for us.
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (v. 32).
Sin makes us poor in every aspect. Satan has stolen and robbed many things from our lives. But the love of Christ has changed our lives. He is rich but are willing to be poor, so that we that are poor become rich through His poverty. Unlike the devil, God never takes away anything from our lives, He instead gives everything for us, He even gives His own Son, what else He does not give? In Him, we have everything.
In him we are enriched. In Him we receive all spiritual blessings in Heaven (Eph. 1:3), so that we never lack in all things, we are more than conquerors!
3. Love that doesn’t judge but justifies us.
“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth” (v. 33).
We are the ones who deserved to be punished because of sin, but because of His love, He chose to justify us instead of judging and punishing us. If God who should punish us even justify us, who can sue and punish us? In Christ and because of His love, we are not convicted people anymore. In Christ we are free people. Satan can not sue and intimidate us anymore. His love has made us more than conquerors!
4. Love that can not be separated by anything and anyone.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (vv. 35, 38-39).
His love is so deep and glued in our lives, so there is nothing and no one that can separate us from His love. Persecution and suffering can not separate us from the love of Christ. Angels and governments are not able to separate us from the love of Christ.
Because we can not be separated from the love of Christ, it means the victories that has been given through His love will be ours forever. From forever until forever we will be more than conquerors. In this world, the winner will never be a winner forever, eventually they would lose the victory.
This is the love that makes us more than conquerors: the love of Christ makes us more than conquerors, because we will always be winners, because of His love!
