I do not know how many times you have celebrated Easter, but inspite of that, our mind often thinks that Jesus has not risen yet, still in the tomb (Mark 16:1-8). Whereas the stone had been rolled away! The tomb was empty! Jesus has risen!
Just as Mary Magdalene and the other women, on that day of Passover, they went to the tomb to anoint and lament Jesus’ body, even though they’d heard Jesus said over and over again that on Passover day He would rise. They went to ‘worship’ at the tomb just as most Christians today.
On the way they said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” (Mark 16:3).
In their mind Jesus had not risen, there was a huge stone closing Jesus’ tomb, who would roll it away? That is also the question in the mind of most Christians. There is still a huge stone that has not been rolled away that makes them unable to see the power of resurrection of Jesus.
If you are experiencing it, you should take a closer look, and know: “The stone had been rolled away! The tomb was empty! Jesus has risen!”
“Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back” (Mark 16:4).
What does the huge stone represent?
1. Everyhing that prevents us to meet the living Jesus.
The stone was a barrier to the women to meet Jesus, but the stone had been rolled away. There was nothing blocking them to meet Jesus, and they could even meet the risen Jesus, not the Jesus who died.
The stone had been rolled away! The tomb was empty! Jesus has risen! Nothing else can hinder us to meet the living Jesus that has already risen.
2. Everything impossible that has haunted our lives.
The stone was huge and stamped with the seal of the Roman empire, so it’s impossible to roll it away. Because anyone who dared to roll it away will come face to face with the Roman government in power at that time. No human could roll it away, but God can!
The stone had been rolled away! The tomb was empty! Jesus has risen! There is no more impossibility that can stand in your way! The power of resurrection of Jesus has destroyed all the walls of existing impossibility!
3. Everything that prevents us to rise up and represent the Lord.
The stone was deliberately placed to close the tomb of Jesus, with the purpose so that all the scenarios and the news of the resurrection of Jesus would not have been possible. The stone was placed in order to preclude the resurrection. But nothing could deter the resurrection of Jesus, likewise no one can hinder our resurrection.
The stone had been rolled away! The tomb was empty! Jesus has risen! Nothing can hinder us to rise up and represent the Lord anymore, because we are His representation on this earth.
