The Foundation of Our Lives

In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend heir bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:1-3 KJV).

The Foundation of Our Lives

There were many enemies who planned to do evil in the life of David, they’re flexing their bow to shoot at a hidden place. People around David gave him advice and counsel: “Flee as a bird to your mountain!” But David replied: “How say ye to my soul?” Why did David answer that? Because he had made God as his refuge!

David had a habit in his life, whenever he was tired, burnt out, or in trouble, he always ran to God as his refuge. That should also be the foundation of our lives.

“For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings” (Psalm 61:3-4 KJV).

That’s why he became angry when people around him advised him to go to another shelter. For David, making God as a refuge was his foundation of life.

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3 KJV)

When people advised him to seek another refuge, he was very angry, because they seemed wanting to destroy the foundations of his life. David was well aware that it was where his strength was. He realized that if his foundation of life can be destroyed by enemies, then there was nothing he could do, nothing else he could accomplish in his life.

David had made God as a place of rest and refuge, that’s the foundation of his life. How about you? What are your foundations of life?

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God:
from him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved”
(Psalm 62:1-2 KJV)

God is my place of rest and refuge
That’s the foundation of my life, and …
I SHALL NOT BE GREATLY MOVED!
